It’s safe and comfortable
We help you relax and get the dental care you need.
If you are among the 75 million Americans who have anxiety about dental appointments, knowing the benefits of preventive or restorative dentistry probably doesn’t make it any easier. But for many patients, sedation dentistry from the Atlanta Center for Cosmetic Dentistry does make it easier. We help you relax and get the dental care you need.
What Is Sedation Dentistry?
Sedation dentistry is administered by a trained dentist as a safe, comfortable way to help you relax and have a productive dental appointment. Before you receive this treatment, your medical and prescription history will be thoroughly reviewed to ensure you are a candidate for it.
A Level to Match Your Needs
There are three levels of sedation dentistry. Our dentists will provide the right level of sedation to match your anxiety level and your dental procedure.
Nitrous Oxide
Nitrous oxide (laughing gas) is a colorless, odorless gas. When you inhale the gas, it will calm you and distract you from the sights and sounds of dental procedures. You will be able to respond to questions and requests during dental treatment.
When the procedure is complete, you will breathe in pure oxygen which will reverse the effects in about two minutes. There are no lingering effects–after your appointment you will be able to drive home or back to work. Follow the post-care instructions related to your dental procedure. We offer complimentary nitrous oxide to our patients.
Oral Conscious Sedation
This level of sedation dentistry is taken orally. You will receive commonly prescribed anti-anxiety medication to take before your appointment. When it is time for your dental procedure, you will be deeply relaxed. You will be conscious during your procedure, and your vital signs will be monitored. Your state of relaxation will be so deep that you might not remember what happened during your appointment. Be certain to arrange for transportation to and from your appointment, because you will be too relaxed to drive.
IV Sedation
Anti-anxiety medication is administered intravenously by an anesthesiologist. Many patients prefer it because it quickly takes effect. The IV site is numbed first, so you only feel a slight pinch. You will be so relaxed and comfortable that you probably won’t be aware of your dental procedure. We will monitor your vital signs and ensure your safety and comfort throughout the procedure. In advance of your appointment, arrange for transportation to and from our office.

Consider comments from two of our patients:
My appointment was for a simple cleaning, but I was dreading it. I knew I was in the right spot when they offered me a warm neck wrap and hand massage during my cleaning. I completely forgot that I was having my teeth cleaned. I definitely recommend this dental office to everyone, especially if you have anxiety about dental appointments.” – Jessica W.
You take an uncomfortable situation and do everything possible to make it comfortable. You do it well, with great and personable people, along with a cool environment.” – Art M.
